Check out the collection of other 7 Quick Takes Friday posts, hosted at Jennifer Fulwiler’s blog, Conversion Diary

There was a turkey, all right. We just didn’t eat it!

–2–

In fact, we almost didn’t eat at all. I didn’t even finish setting the table. . .

–3–

Somebody got real sick, real fast. In fact, he still looks like a giant strawberry this morning.

–4–

It wouldn’t be a holiday with Morera’s without a trip to the Emergency Room. It’s just, it’s usually a broken bone. . .

And it’s usually…

or . . .

–5–

So here’s a thankful prayer that the little ones are safe and sound…and the big one returned, pumped full of benadryl and other stuff, but hungry as a horse.

–6–

Here’s the pork roast that had cooked all day (and then…all evening!)

–7–

And there was no pumpkin pie…a flan instead!

Here’s hoping you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! And the gentle reminder that every day is for giving thanks.

Christmas shopping and the art of antagonism

I went Christmas shopping today…finally. Oh, I’ve been picking up things here and there as they kind of struck me, but there were things left on my list that still needed to be picked up, and since I wasn’t particularly stressed about it, made an event of it with Jonathan and Christy.

For the record, it’s impossible to go anywhere around here without running into somebody we know, so the game was predicting how many people we’d run into. I came up short every time.

Anyway, things seem to be getting a little tense around here. I witnessed a fight break out between a shopper and a harried clerk. For. Real.

Merry Christmas y’all. Merry. Christmas.

surprise…the vapid and ridiculous entry has returned

My brain has turned to jello, and while I’d like to say that it is a tasty chocolate Jello pudding (is Bill Cosby still dead, or did he come out and say how tired he is of the rumors?), I’m going to have to go with the hospital green variety of jello. I read once that green jello had brain waves, and at this point, I’d take anything I could get.

Of course, I do like the taste of green jello. I try not to pay too much attention to the toxic color. I like lime sorbet, too, but I guess that’s off topic at the moment.

What flavor jello do you like? Just curious.

astounding skills

Wow! Remember THIS? I don’t think I could type on one of those antiques anymore. I managed to avoid typing in high school because of that varsity period at the end of the day where athletes were supposed to see the trainers. Uh huh. Burger King anyone? It explains, though, the confusion from my older ladies who don’t understand textwrap.

what I’ve seen…redux

There are parts of my fair city that are…well…interesting. Lucky for me, I work in one of those quarters where there’s always entertainment going on. You know what I’m talking about as I talk around in delicate circles.

Let’s face it. It’s the bizarro world to my quiet, suburban/formerly rural homestead. The fact that we aren’t rural anymore should be an indication of the kind of gigantic growth experienced in Atlanta. As a side note, one of these days Birmingham is going to be part of metropolitan Atlanta due to the urban sprawl, but that’s not what I’m venting about today.

No. Today I saw an angelic vision. Or something.

Yes! Seen on my favorite corner (the one where I have been mooned and terrorized by bible thumping cultists) this morning was a gentlemen dressed in an alb.

I am certain that it was an alb because I was carefully looking at the hem and the pleats in the front. If that wasn’t enough, his fashion accessories were outright bizarre.

To his credit, his black and white motif was working, but still. Weird.

To compound things, the alb was hemmed a little too short, exposing his black dress socks accentuated by dazzling white plastic sneakers trimmed in black. It also exposed the fact that he was not wearing long pants (and it was like 22 degrees F). He didn’t strike me as a Scotsman, so I’d like to think he was wearing something else under there, but my mind refused to ponder that any further.

The ensemble was completed by a black hoodie and thick hockey gloves. And dark sunglasses.

I if was dressed like that I wouldn’t want to be recognized, either.

the things I do…

I get the feeling that I should have a blog or something to share my adventures in.

Oh. I do. Only, I suppose I don’t do that enough.

Until today. In the middle of all the other responsibilites I have, I had to go to HAZMAT training. Because I need it, don’t you know. I mean, some of those essays can really get toxic.

On second thought, I am in the mood to get really toxic. Excuse me a moment…

…ah, yes, that is just the refreshment that I needed. Okay, so back to the training. Yes, my day was interupted so that I can tell the difference between caution and warning. There is nothing to study about DANGER! Evidently, that one doesn’t need clarification.

I’m just disappointed I didn’t get the yellow suit.
